Fabric Type Decides the Method
Upholstery is far less forgiving than carpet. The fabric is thinner, the dyes are often less stable, and there is padding underneath that must not get wet, so every piece is tested on a hidden section before we start.
Cotton and linen covers can shrink or watermark if over-wetted. Viscose and rayon, which look like silk and are common on cheaper sofas, distort badly with too much moisture and need a low-moisture method. Leather is cleaned and conditioned rather than extracted.
