This is the process we follow on a typical West London job.
The method is adjusted to the fibre and the property, but the sequence stays the same.
Crystal Carpet Cleaners provides carpet cleaning for homes, flats, rental properties, offices and commercial premises across West London. Our service area includes Kensington, Chelsea, Hammersmith, Fulham, Chiswick, Ealing and surrounding West London postcodes.
The cleaning method is selected after an inspection of the carpet fibre, construction, condition and type of soiling.
Same-day and next-day appointments may be available, subject to postcode and schedule.
Fixed prices, quoted before we start. The right-hand column is our standard rate – the middle column is what you pay on the current offer.

Most carpets are touch dry within 4 to 6 hours, depending on ventilation, carpet type and room temperature. The amount of moisture used and the carpet pile also affect drying time.
Products are selected according to the carpet fibre, construction and required treatment, and are used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Product information or safety data sheets can be provided on request. Children and pets should remain off the carpet until it is fully dry.
We treat many common stains, including coffee, wine, mud and pet-related marks. Results depend on the carpet fibre, stain substance, previous treatments and how long the stain has been present. Colour loss, bleaching and permanent fibre damage cannot be removed through cleaning.
Every service below is carried out by trained, fully insured technicians using professional-grade equipment. Most West London bookings combine two or more in a single visit, which keeps the total well below the cost of separate appointments.
Hot water extraction that lifts embedded dirt, allergens and everyday grime rather than just refreshing the surface. Carpets are walkable again in two to four hours.
Wool, synthetic and delicate rugs, dye-stability tested first so colours stay put and the pile is protected throughout.
Sofas, armchairs and fabric furnishings – particularly useful in homes with pets or allergy sufferers.
Spills, pet odours and stubborn marks. Where a stain has set into the backing we treat the source of the smell, not just the visible mark.
Premium service for deep bed sanitization, providing residents with a healthier, cleaner sleep environment.
We use professional equipment that allows us to clean your window treatments directly on-site while they hang. We begin the process by inspecting the fabrics for stains and dust, paying close attention to the material type.

West London has the highest concentration of wool and wool-blend carpet of any part of the capital. In Chelsea, Kensington, Holland Park and Notting Hill it is closer to the rule than the exception, and it changes almost everything about how the work is done.
Wool is a protein fibre, which puts it closer to hair than to nylon. It reacts badly to heat and to alkaline detergent, both of which are standard in general-purpose carpet cleaning. Too much of either roughens the scales on each fibre, and once that happens the carpet feels coarse and dulls permanently. No later cleaning reverses it.
So on wool we work pH-neutral, at controlled temperature, with WoolSafe-approved solutions, and we test dye stability on a hidden section first. Older hand-woven and Persian pieces in particular can carry dyes that were never fixed to modern standards, and a colour that runs cannot be put back.
A growing share of West London rugs and runners are viscose or rayon, sold as art silk. They look convincing and behave nothing alike. Viscose loses most of its strength when wet and the pile distorts and yellows if over-wetted, so it needs a low-moisture method rather than extraction. Getting this wrong ruins the piece, which is why we identify the fibre before quoting rather than after.
Mansion blocks around Maida Vale, Bayswater and South Kensington often have no lift, restricted service hours, or a porter who needs notice. Period houses in Chelsea have narrow staircases with tight turns. Where the van hose cannot reach, we work with portable equipment, so a fifth-floor flat is not an obstacle, but it does change how long the visit takes.
Parking across W1, W2, W8, W11 and SW3 is permit-controlled almost everywhere, and much of the area falls inside the Congestion Charge zone. Where either applies it appears as a separate itemised line on the invoice rather than being folded silently into the quote.
Ealing, Acton, Chiswick and Hammersmith are more family housing than mansion flat, with gardens and children and correspondingly different problems. Here the work is traffic lanes, food and drink marks, and pet traffic rather than delicate fibre. Those lanes of darker carpet along the main walking route respond best to a pre-spray with proper dwell time before extraction, which is included in the price rather than charged as an extra.
Riverside properties in Hammersmith, Fulham Reach and Chiswick hold more humidity, which slows natural drying by an hour or two. We bring air movers on those jobs so nothing is left damp overnight.
In period West London properties the carpet is rarely the only soft furnishing that needs attention, and cleaning one in isolation often makes the others look worse by comparison. Full-length curtains in high-ceilinged rooms hold years of airborne dust, and in this part of London that includes traffic particulate from the main routes.
Curtains can often be cleaned in situ, which avoids the shrinkage risk that comes with taking heavy interlined pairs down and sending them away. Interlining in particular can shrink at a different rate from the face fabric, and once that happens the drop is permanently wrong. Cleaning them hanging keeps the tension as it is.
The same logic applies to upholstery. Where a sofa sits on the carpet being cleaned, doing both in the same visit costs less than two separate appointments and avoids the awkward result of a bright floor under a dull sofa.
West London has a high share of period properties with wool and wool-blend carpets, particularly in Chelsea, Kensington and Holland Park. Wool is sensitive to heat and alkaline chemicals, so we use WoolSafe-approved, pH-neutral solutions and controlled temperatures rather than a one-size-fits-all detergent.
Mansion blocks and upper-floor flats around Maida Vale, Bayswater and South Kensington often have restricted access and no lift. We work with portable equipment where needed, so a narrow staircase or a fifth-floor flat is not an obstacle.
Ealing, Acton and Chiswick bring more family houses with stairs and high-traffic hallways. Those lanes of darker carpet along the main walking route respond best to a pre-spray and dwell time before extraction, which is included rather than charged as an extra.
Much of West London sits inside the Congestion Charge zone. Where it applies, it is shown as a separate line on the invoice so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
